Job Description & Qualifications
Supports financial reporting, planning, and analysis for the organization. Gathers data from a variety of sources, produces detailed reports, and ensures data accuracy.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Conducts variance analysis on financial results, discusses observations and insights with functional teams, proposes solutions, and supports the development of action plans.
Compares and analyzes actual results against plans and forecasts.
Maintains and evaluates current and historical financial data and reports, including reviewing data anomalies and determining problem root causes.
Extracts, analyzes, and loads data into various financial systems. Ensures data is accurate and consistent with qualitative inputs and discussions with business partners.
Participates in departmental and interdepartmental projects.
Provides thought partnership to functional partners on financial planning, forecasting, and actuals.
Consults with management on financial policies, procedures, and applications.
Clarifies financial processes, presents financial data to leadership, and participates in functional team meetings.
Nature and Scope
Works in compliance with established procedures and/or protocols. Identifies and resolves readily identifiable, clearly defined problems. Demonstrates skill in data analysis and techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in routine research/data.
Nature of work requires general supervision; exercises judgment. May be paired with a mentor. Work typically involves regular process checks or review of output by a coworker and/or supervisor.
May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support personnel.
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Certification may be required in some areas. Generally 0-2 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 0-1 year of experience in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications & Job Specific Details
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
Expertise in working with spreadsheets and databases.
Strong understanding of financial concepts and data.
Familiarity with finance and accounting practices, regulations, and procedures.
